THE ARRIVAL

— WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

Duration: 30 minutes

“The Arrival — Where Are You From?l” is a participatory research-based performance that examines identity, place, and belongs through languages and gestures. The performance started from a twelve-day field research in London where the artist Chun Hua Catherine Dong asked to random people to say the question: “Where are you from?” with different tones and emotions, she recorded their voices.

She also invited people who she cannot meet in person to participate by asking them to record their own voices of saying“ Where are you from?” and send them to her. The final project is presented at The CERA Project in London where she use the recorded sound, salt, and paper boats to respond my research.

THE ARRIVAL

— WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

Duration: 30 minutes

“The Arrival” seeks cultural intersections created by experiences of immigration and globalization, examining how transnational interconnections impact and shape our identity, questioning what it means to be a citizen of the world today, and how we all relate to each other in the rapidly changing world.

During this period she was able to recorded 156 people’s voices in London, for the voice sample, please visit her Soundcloud
