VENTO SUL

EXHIBITIONS & EVENTS

VENTO SUL is the name of the cultural project that results from a partnership between

the Cera Project and Espaço Espelho D'Água (EEA) in Belém, under the artistic direction of the curator Inês Valle and with public presentation at the emblematic modernist building of the EEA.

VENTO SUL departs from the historical, symbolic and conceptual notion of 'wind' and the impact of this climate depression in the field of artistic production. In Portugal the winds from the north took them to the South, facilitating and contact with other people, places, stories and, totally altering the perception of the world. Wind shifts around depressions and is not the same everywhere, it varies from place to place.

In Portugal the south wind brings intense climate change, causing a storm. Thus, in a beneficial analogy, VENTO SUL brings to Portugal the south, the non-hegemonic, aiming to contribute to the socio-cultural enrichment of the Portuguese artistic landscape, its relationship and collaboration with other artistic narratives.

VENTO SUL includes a cultural programme of art exhibitions, film screenings, art residencies, live performances, conversations, workshops and music concerts. The programme focuses on an art practice that falls outside of Eurocentric and Western narratives and encourages interaction and dialogue between international artists and audiences in Portugal.

Power is domination, control, and therefore a very selective form of truth which is a lie.
